Homemade NutMilks

Here is a photo of how I store my nut milks in the frige - almond, cashew, macadamia, coconut, etc. I like to use glass because plastic leaches toxins into your food and drinks. Also glass doesn't hold odors or stain like plastic. You can easily find these jugs on amazon.

Nut Milks play a large role in our vegan diets. We use the milk in smoothies, on homemade cereal, in cooking and we drink it straight.

Years ago when we tried to reduce our need for supermarkets and other large brand shops, I researched into making my own nut milks. It is not only more economical, but much healthier too. Most processed and packaged nut milk products are very expensive, and usually much higher in fat, and less nutritious then a homemade alternative.
Agreed - not everyone has time to be making their own nutmilk, but if you do then try out the recipe below...
Cashew Milk:
Add to blender:
1 cup raw cashews, soaked over night, rinsed in a bowl of fresh water and strained (repeat several times till the water is clear)
4 cups of purified water
1/4 cup agave or sweetener
1 tsp vanilla extract
Simply Puree
Note: this is not meant to be stained though a nut milk bag, as with almond milk.

  1. Yumm! I love cashew milk! That picture is too cute. Do you find that your nut milks separate a lot?
